Moonbeam was born on April 15th, 2015. She curled up to the size of white fluffy volleyball and slept in my lap in the evenings when I got home from work. She loved people. She loved to talk to people, and you better say, Hi!” or she was going to let you know you didn’t. Moonbeam also loved to run her spirit was Love and Freedom. She would run and run and run, just to run.
3 months into Moonbeam’s life, we began to notice her back legs were not bending as they should when she tried to walk. We learned after a doctor visit that Moonbeam had early on set locking of the stifles in both back legs. Due to her age, the doctor did not feel comfortable performing surgery until she reached 1 year old due to the anesthesia. We worked therapy sessions to massage and stretch and get her little back legs working again, but there was nothing as heartbreaking as coming home and seeing that baby pony dragging her back legs behind her because she couldn’t make them work. Early 2016, not quite 1 year, we decided it was time for the surgery, she could not continue to drag herself around and maintain a happy pony life. The surgery was a success. She was able to walk and run again within a week and did not slow down form that day forward.
I think that time is what made giving back to somewhere like St. Jude so special for Moonbeam, she felt she had been there before she knew what having a life altering disease could mean to someone so young. She gave with all she had every year, and other then a few events for the Lord, this was Moonbeams only work in her life – giving to St. Jude. Our sincerest hope is that there is a beautiful life lesson for all of in us in this tiny pony’s sprit.

Moonbeam left us it seems as soon as she came. Like a summer breeze she was here, and then departed March 13, 2022.

While we were busy loving and talking to Moonbeam and all the wonderful children that she took around and around at St. Jude, we did not stop to take many pictures of our own – although we made sure to stop for photo time on each round, all those photos were taking by you. Now, that Moonbeam has gone on to different things for the Lord, we are left with very few pictures to remember her and her great works. It is in her honor and with our desire to not forget her service this first year that we humbly ask for your help to extend her Legacy. If you captured a photo or video of your little one riding the "Pink Pony" at St. Jude, we are requesting for you to please share with us. In her memory for every picture submitted in 2022 for any of her years of service, we will be donating $1 to St. Jude. Please see our social media profiles to share; however, we do understand that you may not want to publicly share your little ones, we are also accepting private photos at moonbeamscollage@gmail.com. Please feel free to blur or crop out your little's identity as you see fit, and let us know if you do not want your child's image shared anywhere else. We take your privacy seriously.
